Unique Ingredients

One of our founding principles was that we wanted to bring unique flavors to the market. Of course we include classic flavors, but we didn’t want to stop with just the classics. The challenge is that unique ingredients come with unique challenges. We use the following:

Purple Tea – Only grown around Mount Kenya

Baobab Fruit – Grown in areas that are harder to access

Moringa – Not widely available

Macadamia Nuts – Expensive and grown in a limited number of countries

Coconut Milk Powder – More expensive than other milk options

Real Spices

Our Foods include real spices. This is an expensive way to create foods, but the taste is worth it.

Baobab Infusion & Boosts – Cinnamon, Turmeric, Ginger

Banana Bread – Cardamom

Pumpkin Bread – Cloves, Cinnamon, Nutmeg

Pancake/Waffle Mix – Cinnamon

Health

For example, purple tea has more antioxidants than even green tea. We use Powdered Coconut Milk to create our Cafe Select Lattes and Mochas, which is so much better than the chemical substitutes that many companies use to create a milk flavor. Baobab is considered a Super-Food because of the wide variety of nutrients it offers. And beyond the healthy ingredients we add are the unhealthy ingredients we avoid.

People

The most important ingredient to our continued success is the people making these products. Caring, Passion and Professionalism, these are three ingredients that go into each product that we make.

Support Local

Farmers & Businesses

This is another founding principle of the company. We wanted to try and bring jobs and salaries into areas not participating fully in the formal economy. By purchasing ingredients from local farmers we hope to have an impact. For example all the nuts used in our Mazin Balance Bars are from small scale nut farms. Our honey comes from local small scale producers

Fun

Its fun to be able to taste flavors and products created with ingredients from other parts of the world. All of our Mazin Bars have Kenyan Honey, which we think is some of the best in the world. If you have never tried Purple tea, it has such an inviting smooth taste. You will be hooked after one try! We bet that you have never tried pancakes with baobab in them. Try ours!
